Pumpkin Patch 2014

We went with a group of friends from Church to Britt’s Pumpkin Patch on Saturday. It was fun to be together and to enjoy the Fall doing such a classic fall activity. Below is the Hay Ride. It winds through a farm growing fresh peppers, egg plant, okra, milo and pumpkins.

This bike was steered by whoever pedaled fasted. A little tough to get going on the grass, but the idea was very interesting. Should be a pre-marriage counseling activity.

Berkley is a strange girl. She won’t go near a daddy longlegs, but she chased this escaped chicken down and returned it to chicken prison.

Sadie handled the chicken once she knew it was safe.

The slide was fantastic. Bigger than it looks in photos and really fun despite ending in a puddle of mud.

Here Danielle takes the girls down the slide.

With the Kansas City Royals dominating the Major League playoffs I thought this sheep might want to show his support. He didn’t seem amused by this one bit.

I went down the slide with the girls and it didn’t go as well as when Fisher did it. I left the stage by stage.

The Color Run Manhattan

Our friend Danielle Catudal suggested the Color Run so a bunch of us from Church decided to do it. It’s a 5k, but it’s not a normal 5k. It’s more like a jogging party, there are no times, lots of costumes and every 3/4 or so mile they throw a new color of powdered paint at you.  Below is Kennedy and I getting ready.

This is the mascot and the largest Conga line in some qualified category.

Hannah had her picture take with the Unicorn because she’s a natural redhead with blue eyes which is considered as rare as a magical unicorn.

This is a before photo of some of the group.

This is us headed towards the first color gate. Looks like some sort of chemical warfare accident in the distance, we weren’t sure what to expect. (Will this comment get me forever flagged by CIA?) It’s people with bottles of powder spraying us as we go by. The powder is made from cornstarch and taste just like it.

The race starts in waves so we had to wait a bit.

There our group goes! Color Run Manhattan 2014

After the race our kids rolled in the color they could find

Kennedy is a legit runner. I am not. I was falling behind about 30 miles into this and he was nice enough to jog with me at an extremely slow pace. I’m glad he did cause I would have stopped and walked if he hadn’t. He also kept up with my pace by doing the grandma in the mall speed walk.

Here Danielle is trying explain why this color run thing is a big conspiracy for Tide to sell more detergent. (not really, no idea what she’s saying, but I am looking at her as though it is a conspiracy theory of some sort).

I get the feeling Berkley is grumpy about something.

Color Run Manhattan 2014

This is kinda gross, it’s the hair on my arm after running through yellow, blue, pink and purple color gates. Color Run Manhattan 2014

Here is an after group photo. I may have rolled through a color gate or two to pick up a little extra paint.

These two did the color toss with us. Everyone gets together and throws packets of color into the air. Sadie had a broken arm so she couldn’t do it.

Purple Power Play 2014

Purple Power Play is Manhattan’s Fall Kick Off basically. A “welcome back” to students, kick off for K-State sports and just a fun time for townies.

ManhattanPres had a booth. We may have set up early…

There was a magician and Ada Scott got to be his “lovely assistant.” She was lovely as always!

Berkley has this thing against fireworks. As in, she despises them. Fourth of July is her bane. Unfortunately for her, the two day event went out a bang. Aka, a fireworks show!

Bloopers

I edit sermons. Brian’s on Monday morning and also Tony’s for the radio. So I get a lot of great stuff in my head (via my ear buds) each week. I also get a lot of stuff that makes me giggle. So it’s hardly fair to keep this stuff to myself. 🙂

This one is from yesterday. It’s Brian trying to get our attention after the passing of the peace/fellowship time during the worship service. This is cut down from the entire minute it took him to get our attention. He seems to be entertaining himself quite well though!

This one is from about 4 years ago. The significance of this is that Tony is foretelling his own knee injury. Since the sermon’s that I edit for the radio are about 4 months old, when I heard this, he had already, I think the technical term he uses is “messed up his knee.” Here’s what he did shortly after saying this:

Our girls have been a blessing in the kitchen! They are a real help, and it’s good talk time! And it’s cute to be twinkies! a

It got to be like 50 outside one morning and they busted out the winter hats. They are so cute that I don’t blame them though!q

Berkley, did you lose gum today? “YES!! I can’t find it!”

Me: "Berkley, did you lose gum today?" Berkley: "YES! I can't find it"!
